Amanda Visell is a Los Angeles based painter, sculptor, and all around pop culture chewing artist who produces solely for the nostalgic yearning spirited kid at heart. Recently she has hand craved and painted a set of wonderful wooden figurines staring the original character’s from George Lucas’s Star Wars franchise. Created as uniquely large blockly incarnations of the cult inducing characters, the wooden figurines are in line with Visell signature use of 1960s-style design and she champions a visual and production throwback to quality wooden toys we see so little of today. The little details from the hand painted wooden box packaging to the small accessories accompanying each figure (i.e. Darth Vader’s light saber, Leia’s mirror and comb). It’s truly no wonder why toy lovers and Star Wars fanatics raced to purchase these wonderful pieces of art that embellishes a significant pop icon of our culture.
Very few of these pieces are left for purchase, but here is hoping that Amanda will be producing more in the future. Much more of her work can be seen and purchase at her artist cooperative website Switcheroo, and at her own personal website AmandaVisell.com.
